About Beekube
Beekube was created with a simple goal: to maintain a history of hive interventions and track various metrics (harvests, weather, interventions), so that data can later be analyzed or consulted.
Looking more closely, in any type of farming, this need has a name: the breeding register.
The beekeeping breeding register is typically a notebook with tables, where interventions and comments about hive activities are recorded. The entries are unique to each beekeeper, with abbreviations and symbols to save time during data entry.
When an amateur beekeeper starts wanting to work more professionally and methodically, this breeding register becomes essential. For professionals, it is mandatory.
Beekube aims to make the breeding register accessible to everyone (amateurs), while addressing professional needs. To achieve this, Beekube relies on three simple principles:
- Fun: beekeeping-specific icons and illustrations
- Ergonomic: the interface must be simple and intuitive
- Speed: data entry should take less than one minute per hive (direct access via QR codes, complete and efficient forms)
Support for all users is available via Discord and email, so that no beekeeper gets stuck or confused.
Damien TUPINIER, along with Beekube users who wish to participate, help each other through a Discord discussion server accessible from within the app.
Beekube is continuously evolving with a clear direction, but also based on feedback and needs from beekeepers.
The focus of upcoming Beekube developments will be:
- Professionalization:
- Export a standards-compliant breeding register in PDF
- Queen breeding tools: task cycle scheduling with calendar (grafting, starter, finisher, mating)
- Genetics tracking (F0, F1, F2, and family tree)
- Bee health:
- Hive diagnosis assistant: decision tree with questions to help diagnose problems, and in the most serious cases, provide contacts (Veterinarian, local beekeeping associations)
- Prophylaxis: encourage good sanitary practices (hive disinfection, bottom board replacement, frame replacement, Varroa counting)
- Data exploitation:
- Data export (CSV, Excel)
- Data visualization
